The project required custom solutions to address the unique challenges of insulating large Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) units, silencers, and associated pipework in a demanding external environment. Background:
The client, a major data centre, required insulation for large SCR units, silencers, and associated pipework located on an exposed roof. These components are critical for the operation of the facility, necessitating a robust solution that could provide both thermal and acoustic insulation while enduring the harsh external conditions.
Scope:
Tailored & Mat Supplies was tasked with designing and installing a double-layer insulation jacketing system that would fully cover the units. The system needed to provide effective thermal and acoustic insulation while being practical to install, remove, and maintain. Additionally, the insulation had to withstand all weather conditions, ensuring long-term durability and performance.
Challenges:
One of the key challenges was the need for the insulation jackets to be easily maneuverable and straightforward to fit, despite the complexity and size of the equipment. Given the exposed location on the roof, the solution also needed to be resilient against a range of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, and precipitation.
Result:
The project was completed successfully, with the client expressing high satisfaction with the outcome.
